Radio Club "Nikola Tesla"
Where it all began.
In 1979, at age 14, Venci walked into the club in Gevgelija for the first time. The context of the time: only 2 TV channels, scarce phone lines, no FM radio in town. Those were the "golden years" of amateur radio in Yugoslavia — every town had its own club.
The road to a first station
Technical fundamentals → Morse code (a 6-month course) → radio traffic regulations → an exam before the republic commission. Contacts with 100+ countries in a short span. The first ZX Spectrum computer in Gevgelija was brought into the club — and with it, the town's first free computer course.
1998 — The contest in Ohrid
An antenna system strung between two 65-meter towers, set up in 3 days for a 48-hour contest — result: first place in the world.
The meteor shower era
The late 1980s — QSOs made through meteor showers, usually from locations above 2000m ASL (the 50 MHz band, the Z3A team — 3× #1 in the world over the last 10 years).
